Monash University welcomes five new distinguished alumni in 2010.

The Distinguished Alumni Awards held at Federation Square, Melbourne in August celebrated this year's recipients and honoured Monash University's entire alumni community.

Distinguished Alumni Lifetime Achievement Award 2010

Ms Naomi Milgrom AO

Naomi Milgrom AO (BA 1973)
Ms Naomi Milgrom, Executive Chair, CEO and owner of the Sussan Group, is recognised as one of Australia's top 25 business leaders and a trailblazer for women. Ms Milgrom has led the Sussan Group - comprising the Sussan, Suzanne Grae and Sportsgirl fashion chains – for 20 years.

Ms Jane Turner

Jane Turner (BA 1988)
Jane Turner is one of Australia’s most popular female comedians. She is probably best known for her roles as Kath Day-Knight and Prue the shopkeeper from Fountain Gate Shopping Centre, in the highly-popular comedy series ‘Kath and Kim’, which she created, wrote, and produced with long time friend Gina Riley.

Distinguished Alumni Service Award 2010

Dr Sally Cockburn

Dr Sally Cockburn (MBBS 1982)
Sally Cockburn is a Melbourne GP and media commentator (as Dr Feelgood) on radio 3AW. Throughout her three decades since graduating as a medical practitioner, she has continued to be engaged with the Monash University community as a volunteer, teacher and board member.

Distinguished Young Alumni Award 2010

Ms Amanda McKenzie

Amanda McKenzie (LLB(Hons) 2008)
Amanda McKenzie has established herself as a leader and expert in climate change awareness and youth community participation. Ms McKenzie has worked as co-director of the Australian Youth Climate Coalition (AYCC) - the largest youth-run organisation in Australia - for the last three years.

Alumni Student Award 2010

William Moore

William Moore
At only 23 Monash Bachelor of Arts (Honours) student William Moore is a committed volunteer and passionate about community engagement. While in South Africa on inter-campus exchange he was instrumental in growing the reach of the Monash Saturday School for disadvantaged students. He also co-founded both the Environmental Students Association and Students Involved in Free Enterprise.
