About Monash University Academy of Performing Arts
The Clayton and Peninsula campuses and surrounding communities are served by the Robert Blackwood Hall, the Alexander Theatre and the George Jenkins Theatre. Creative and performing arts have been part of the fabric of University life at Monash for over forty years with these venues a key organic connection between the University and the community.
In addition to the provision of venues the University expanded its vision for creativity and innovation by appointing two artistic directors, Jeffrey Crellin Artistic Director – Music and Peter Oyston, Artistic Director – Theatre to work with students and professionals in the development of music and theatre programs. In collaboration with the School of Music Conservatorium and the Centre for Theatre and Performance the Academy has produced orchestral concerts, an annual music festival and theatre productions.
